Dinner Dance Celebrates large Trophy Haul
A very large crowd attended the Dinner Dance on Saturday night in the Golf Club. As usual the meal was excellent, and the craic was great. Kileavy were able to boast ten trophies at the top table this season, which is a great improvement on last year, and lets hope we can build on our improvements again next season. In his speech, chairman Michael O'Neill lavished praise on the winners, but was also frank in his comments on some of the pressing issues facing the club. The prizes were handed out by Fr Naughton, Club President Larry King, and County Board vice chairman Ollie Hearty. Among the big award winners were richly deserved Club Person of the Year - Lilian Hannaway, Stephen McDonnell for his efforts in Australia, and helping Armagh to another Ulster title. Sinead Mallon, Ciara McConville and Una Hollywood were acknowledged for winning an Ulster title with Armagh Minor Ladies. The minor team picked up their South Armagh League medals, while the B team had two trophies on show, the All County and South League Cups. The hurlers also received runners up medals for their efforts in reaching the Ulster Division 5 league final. Player of the Year Awards: Minor Football - Chris McKnight, B Football - Patrick Hannaway, Senior Football - Liam O'Hare, Ladies Football - Sharon Reel, Hurling - Mark Winters.

Cloverhill Win Killeavy Golf Classic
With the inclement weather over the past few weeks, Killeavy Golf Classic eventually kicked off on Saturday morning in sparkling weather conditions. Conditions only stayed dry for half the day, however, with the rain returning for the afternoon competitors. Cloverhill's representatives showed you just can't beat local knowledge, coming home in first place, while local celebrities Father Kevin Cullen and Oliver McDonnell?s team clinched second place. A big thanks to Cloverhill, who were very flexible with the running of the event, and for the way everything ran smoothly on the day. Of course, well done to Sean Duffy and Gene Doran for organising the event, and just to prove there was no conflict of interest in the competition, their team took their foot off the gas for the closing holes and settled for third place! The Novice category proved to be a very competitive event, just edged by Gabriel O'Hanlon, who led his team to a fine victory.

Roisin Wins Armagh Rose!!
Roisin Magennis, one of the stars of Killeavy XFactor a month or two ago, stole the limelight again on Thursday night, when she fought off stiff competition to win the prestigious Armagh Rose of Tralee nomination in the Canal Court Hotel. Before she makes it to the big tent in Tralee in August, however, Roisin will have to make it past the regional finals in Portlaoise on the 14th June. Congratulations and best of luck to Roisin, and hopefully the Armagh Rose, will be going strong late in the Summer (just like the football team). There is no doubt that her experience on the big stage of Killeavy XFactor will give her edge she needs!!

What a magnificent evening's entertainment in Killeavy on Saturday evening, as the much anticipated X Factor final proved to be the biggest event of the year. There wasnt room to move in the Social Club by 9-00pm, and every act put on an exceptional show. Miceal Connolly with his powerful ballad, and great guitar playing walked away with the £1000 prize and the coveted accolade of Killeavy X Factor champion for 2008. Let's hope for some success, it would be a great lift so early in the season!

X Factor Final
What need is there to promote this runaway event, a stunning success for the club. Such a large crowd is expected, that you’ll have to be there early to avoid disappointment. Doors open at 8pm, and there is a £10 cover charge. The smaller bar will act as an overflow area, and will have large screen facilities to relay events from the large hall. Finalists include housewive’s favourite, Stuart (The re-incarnation of Joe Dolan) Stokes, Gordy (I’m well in with the judges) Magennis, Roisin and Dearbhla Magennis (both diva queens), Grace O’Reilly, Miceal Connolly, Ann McCormick, Donal Trainor, Kevin Teggart, and Sinead Reel. The voting system on the night is slightly different from normal, with each person allowed up to ten votes, each costing £1-00. Good Start for Killeavy Seniors
Killeavy seniors had a promising start to the year with a challenge match win over Whitecross in Killeavy this morning. Great goals from John McKevitt, Raymie Teggart and Adrian Doran had Killeavy 3-2 to 0-4 up at half-time, have played against the strong breeze. A poorer display in the second period, where they only scored three points, was still enough to win on a score of 3-05 to 1-08.

The U8s are back in training!!

Tremendous Feile Victory for Killeavy
Killeavy Feile team had a great start to the campaign, registering an emphatic victory over Shane O'Neills, who had won the competition in the previous two years. The team are looking forward to a good run in the competition over the next few weeks.

Killeavy Host Sevens Tournament!
Preparations are well underway now for the first Armagh sevens tournament, to be held at the club on Easter Saturday, 22nd March. We hope to have 16-20 teams taking part, on our two main fields and in Meigh. The initial invite has gone to the top two divisions in Armagh, and depending on uptake, we may widen our base to other clubs in the region. The club will be open on the day, and we're hoping for a great days craic and a good and meaningful competition to add to the Armagh football calendar. The tournament has been endorsed by the county board, and official referees will be present!! So make sure you're there to help or just enjoy your day out.

Championship Draws
Killeavy drew Maghery in the senior championship, the game provisionally down for Pearse Og Park on 17th August at 4-00pm. The minors got Silverbridge, provisionally fixed for 6th September at 4-00pm in Killeavy. The U21 got a first round bye, their second round game scheduled for the 7th May at 7-00pm.

South Armagh Whistler of The Year
Well done to Killeavy refereeing ace, Seamus Faloon, whose pragmatic and no-nonsense style of arbitration, has led to him winning the prestigious South Armagh referee of the year award in his maiden season in the job. Still recovering from illness, Im sure Seamus will soon have his sights set on Pat McAneanys position as number one referee in the land, when hes fully back on his feet!!

Get Well Soon Seamus
Great to see Killeavy star Seamus Toner out of hospital and on the road to recovery after his recent accident. Take your time getting back into good health, but remember the league starts in April, and we need you back on the pitch asap. Good man!!
