Killeavy AGM 2006
There wasn't as big a crowd as was hoped for at the AGM on Monday night. Michael O'Neill was voted in again as Chairman again. I have included the minutes and secretary's report here. Secretary's Report. Minutes for 2006.

Photos from Underage Presentation Night
Hi folks, here are some photos from our underage presentation night held in the social club earlier this month. Report.

Killeavy crash out of U21 Championship
Controversy, as the referee turned up two hours early this week to switch the venue to Dromintee. It was a game of two halves as the ridiculous weather conditions meant only one point was scored against the wind in the entire game. A Miceal O'Rourke inspired comeback led Dromintee to victory after Barry McKevitt and Killeavy sprinted out to an early lead. Read

Killeavy enters advanced technological era
The new scoreboard is on show in Killeavy at last. This is a great asset for the club and great thanks to sponsor Cathal Boylan and John King who constructed the base with turning mechanism so that it can be used for both fields.

Dates For the Diary
Killeavy's AGM takes place on the Monday 20th November at 8-00pm. There will be a mass for deceased members at 7-30pm before we get down to business. The Annual Dinner Dance takes place in Newry Golf Inn on Saturday 25th November. Hope to see you all there!!

Charity Night
There will be a charity night in the club on Saturday 18th November in aid of the hospice and the Special Olympics. Admission is £5 and a light supper will be provided.

Referee No-Show
A huge turnout for the big local derby between Killeavy and Dromintee had to leave disappointed, when the referee failed to turn up for the U21 championship encounter.

Killeavy Playoff Heartbreak
Goals win games. Silverbridge got three, Killeavy none. That was the deciding factor as Killeavy's promotion hopes ended in tatters.

Killeavy/Dromintee House Draw
The big Day is fast approaching, when some lucky winner is going to get their very own new dream four bedroom house in Jonesboro. 9th December is D-day, so please snap up those tickets. All sellers are urged to make a big push with their tickets and get outstanding monies to Micky McCrink in the club on Thursday evenings.

Halloween Extravaganzaaaa!!
There will be a fireworks spectacular in Killeavy on Tuesday night at 8pm for Halloween. There will be a family night following the show in the Social Club. There will also be a prize for the best costume, so be imaginative with those outfits!! This should be a great evening's craic, so please come along!!

Stevie's at it Again
Stevie McDonnell was in devilish mood against the Aussies in Galway on Saturday night. He topscored for Ireland yet again, and his towering three pointer in the fourth quarter inspired his colleagues to a great comeback win. Of course, he's only using the International Rules games as warmup for the promotion playoffs.

Death of a fine Gael
Killeavy were saddened to learn of the death of Peter McGleenan early last week. Peter played for Cruppen and Armagh, and contributed greatly to Killeavy down the years. He was also heavily involved with Armagh underage football over many years.

Hard luck Aileen
Armagh Ladies and Aileen Matthews were hugely unlucky to come up a point short in Sunday?s All-Ireland final. Aileen thumped over a great score in the first half, but shipped a heavy knock to the shoulder and had to come off early in the second half. No doubt, Armagh would have had a better chance of overhauling their opponents had the Killeavy sharpshooter still been on the pitch at the end. Congratulations to Aileen and Armagh Ladies, who can hold their heads high after a superb year.

Aileen shows her winning credentials again!!!
In a truly epic encounter, Armagh continued their meteoric rise through senior ranks to reach the All-Ireland final. Aileen Matthews kicked two magnificent points from play and was rock solid from dead balls, bringing her tally to a hugely impressive six points. Hopefully Killeavy will soon have another All-Ireland medal in the bag.

Killeavy through to semi Final Of Championship!!!

Stan is the MAN!!
Mark Stanfield was back on the scoring trail in Croke Park on Sunday with Louth. Following a serious ankle injury, Stan has his league and Tommy Murphy medals with Louth, and now he'll be back chasing promotion and a senior championship with Killeavy!! Well done the bigman!!!

Aileen bang on target again!!
Aileen Matthews, as ever, was bang on song for Armagh Ladies as they continue their sensational rise through the world of Ladies GAA. Armagh overcame a strong Waterford challenge and Aileen hit 0-5 as Armagh are now in the senior All-Ireland semi-final, something that would have been untinkable a few short years ago. Brilliant stuff!!

Seniors arrest slide before Championship
This was a game Killeavy had to win, and they did, however much they tried to let Ballymacnab back onto the second half. Read

Pig racing Derby coming to Killeavy!!!
Killeavy hurlers are presenting a "Night at the Pig Races" on 3 September @ 7pm, in aid of Hurling Funds. The principle is the same as a nite of the races, with several major differences. There are 6 pigs (live), which come out of the back of a lorry and trot approx 80 metres over 2-3 ramps. These pigs have a teddy bear attached for a jockey. Pigs are bought as per a nite of the races @ £10 each. Sponsorship of a race is £50 and betting takes place before and during the race. There are 6 races plus the auction race. This should be a fierce night's craic and something not to be missed!!!

Seniors put in dismal display
Away to the bottom team, with only a fortnight until the Championship, Killeavy could only manage a solitary point in the second half against Ballyhegan. Read

U12 are League Champs!!

B Team reach the shield final
A highly convincing victory for the B team on Wednesday night against Mullaghbawn. They are now through to the shield final against either Cullaville or Whitecross. The score was 2-12 to 1-7 with Darren O'Hanlon(1-3), Patrick Hannaway(0-4) and Ronan Goodall (1-0) amongst the scorers. Well done to Enda Boylan, Kieran Doran and the whole team. The final may be as early as this week!!

Ladies lose out
Our ladies nine match unbeaten run came to an end at last on Monday night, losing out 1-10 to 1-9 to Grange. The defeat means that promotion to Division I will have to wait another year. The Junior Final is on 16th September against Lissummon.

Minors put up a hell of a fight
The minors gave their all at home to a highly fancied Ogs team in the Q/Final of the minor championship last Monday night. Indeed, Killeavy were well in the game with ten minutes to go, but the visitors finished out strongly to go through to the semis. Bad luck to Seamus Falloon and all the lads.

Aileen wins another Ulster - Senior this time.
Well done to Armagh Ladies on their step up to winning the Ulster Senior crown. Aileen Matthews, of course, continues to leave her mark on the opposition defences, scoring three points against Monaghan on Sunday.

Stevie gets 1-5 as Armagh bow out
Comiserations to Stephen McDonnell as Armagh were defeated by Kerry on Saturday. Stevie can be proud
of his display, tormenting Kerry and scoring the impressive tally of 1-5 over the seventy minutes.
Let's hope he brings this scoring power back to the club scene over he next few weeks.

Poor show, poor defeat
Killeavy started slowly against Cullyhanna, played their way back into the game, only to
concede another goal and the game in the second half. Old boy Mark McDonnell got the crucial
goal for St. Pats.

Ladies win, a place in the Junior final is theirs.
The girls were in Portadown on Wednesday night for their Championship semi-final clash with Eire Og. Despite the proximity of the venue to their opponents, Killeavy kept their improved form going, winning easily on a scoreline of 6-18 to 1-3. Aileen Matthews topscored with 2-9, Jo Shields, Sinead Morgan and Sinead Mallon all chipped in with 1-2 each. Sarah Doran got 1-1 while Sinead Reel also registered a couple of points. The final is initially pencilled in for 20th August against Lissummon. One more big effort required. Well Done to Aine Gamble, Bernard Hannaway and all the girls on what has been a great year to date. Lets hope they can extend their winning streak, which now stands at nine matches.

Killeavy Secure a great win in Keady
It looked improbable in the first half, but a John McKevitt goal set Killeavy on the road to victory in Keady on Sunday night. Read

Championship Fever Hits Killeavy
It's definitely that time of year, with lots of championship activity going on. The B team have shrugged off a slow start to the year, beating Newtown and St Pats in consecutive weeks to reach the semi-final. It's a mixture of old and young, with Mixer White and Barney McKevitt steadying the ship at the back. Up front young guns Ciaran Duffy, Kevin McElroy, Paddy Hannaway and Gordon McGuinness have been producing the scores!!! Our U16 should have got the better of Crossmaglen at home last week, but lost the replay disappointingly this week. Meanwhile, our Ladies continue their impressive run of form, easing past Sarsfields on a score of 4-15 to 2-04. An injury to Aileen Matthews marred the victory somewhat, however. Joanne Shields, Sinead Morgan(2) and Sinead Mallon were the goalscorers for Killeavy. Finally a word for our U-12 who are going so well this year. They made up for defeat in the Championship, by beating Dromintee in the league. They were down 6 points at 1/2 time and with good football, in very hot conditions, finished 4 points ahead. Good in defence were Micheal Murphy, Micheal Boyle and Donal O Neill. Holding well in midfield were Niall Hollywood and Kealan O Hare. Some great finishing by Ciaran O Hanlon with support from Niall Cromie and Thomas Hannaway up front.
