U16 All County Semi-Final: Killeavy 4-08 Naomh Eoin 0-04

Fresh from their winning of the South Armagh League and Championship double, our u16's moved on to the All-County scene. Last night they travelled to the Athletic Grounds to take on North Armagh champions St. John's in the semi-final of the Armagh championship. The contest was very even early on with Killeavy edging in front through points from Niall Hannaway and Michael Boyle. St. John's then had a number of chances but these were missed under pressure from a tigerish Killeavy defence. A magnificent Ciaran O'Hanlon catch and solo run from midfield saw him burst through the St. John's defence to crash the ball to the top left hand corner of the net. Killeavy kept the pressure on and two more O'Hanlon points sandwiched a Kealan O'Hare effort before St. John's got their first score from a free after 25 minutes. Killeavy got an ideal start to the second half with a Niall King goal followed by points from Kealan Trainer, Michael Boyle and Ciaran O'Hanlon. The match was virtually finished as a contest at this stage but the icing on the cake was two goals inside a minute from Niall Hannaway and Niall Hollywood. With the score at 4-08 to 0-1, Killeavy eased off and St. John's were able to score the last three points of the game. Killeavy now play Pearse Og in the County final and this match has been pencilled in for 9th August which may have implications for our Club Sports Day. With the All County League also starting next week there is every chance of this exciting team adding to their collection of silverware this year.
