U21 Championship: Killeavy 4-15 Eire Og 0-05

A howling wind and heavy rain failed to prevent an excellent display of controlled football by the home team as they swept by Eire Og in the second round of the championship. While last weeks match against Wolfe Tones went right to the wire with an injury time free seeing Killeavy to victory, this weeks was over as a contest after only 15 minutes of play. Eire Og did start the match well and were leading by two points to one when a flowing move from Killeavy ended with the ball being transferred to Barry Magee who slotted home from the edge of the square. The writing was on the wall for Eire Og when Darren OHanlon sent a powerful drive to the net only a couple of minutes later. Second half goals from Eugene Coogan and Darren OHanlon put the icing on the cake of a convincing 4.15-0.05 victory. The quarter-final draw sees Killeavy with a tough fixture against St. Patricks next Wednesday evening. At least Killeavy got the advantage of a home fixture for the third straight time in this years competition.
