Killeavy 0-09 St Pats 1-18
After coming so close to victory last Friday night, Killeavy lined out to face St Pats in the championship replay on Friday night in pleasant conditions in the Athletic Grounds. St Pats had a slight breeze advantage, while underfoot conditions were firm enough despite all the rain during the week. Both teams missed early scoring chances, before St Pats hit a long range free to settle their nerves. From this point on, their momentum grew, while Killeavy were unable to muster anything purposeful in attack. Two St Pats points were followed a goal, when Killeavy lost possession. The original shot hit the post while the rebound was fisted to the net by the very impressive full forward for St Pats, who managed 1-4 from play on the night. Mark Stanfield got Killeavy's first point after 35 minutes, laid on by Seamus Toner. Losing by six after 25 minutes, Killeavy's only real quick, slick move of the half led to Seamus Toner being fouled in the square. Unfortunately, Stanfield, who finished so emphatically last week, drilled the spot kick over the bar when Killeavy desperately needed a goal. The miss was felt all the more, when St Pats responded with 5 points in five minutes before the break to go in with an unassailable ten point lead at half time.Half-Time: Killeavy 0-2 St Pats 1-09
The second half was a bit of a damp squib, as Killeavy never looked like making a dent in the St Pats lead. Two points in two minutes from Toner and O'Hare, were soon negated by two St Pats points, and the game fizzled out over the last twenty minutes. This was a championship display that lacked any sort of intensity from Killeavy, which was hugely disappointing. The team will need to raise their game considerably for their last league outing, as anything less than 2 points against Sarsfields will see them relegated.Full Time: Killeavy 0-09 St Pats 1-18
