Carrickcruppen 2-15 Killeavy 1-09

Killeavy headed to Cruppen on Sunday afternoon in absolutely perfect conditions to play the home side. After a shocking show against Cruppen a few months ago, it appeared nothing was learned from that encounter, as Cruppen completely dominated the opening period. Killeavy were without Stevie McDonnell, Mark Stanfield and Gary Reel, but even so the display was pretty awful, lacking any real fight and spirit. After two bad early wides from Killeavy, Cruppen showed the way with some clinical point scoring. They could miss nothing as time and again they split the uprights with apparent ease. They notched up 2-11 without kicking a wide in the half. For Killeavy, Liam O'Hare and Raymond Teggart were the only players to trouble the scorers.

Half-Time: Carrickcruppen 2-11 Killeavy 0-02

The second half was a play for pride operation, and at least the team did look more cohesive and competitive, scoring 1-7 to Cruppens 0-4. How interested the home team were in this period was probably debatable, but at least Killeavy managed to put some form of respectable veneer on an afternoon to forget. Next Sundays home game against Clans now looks like a crucial encounter.
