Killeavy added to their collection of silverware for the season when they collected the All County B League trophy by defeating Silverbridge in Dromintee
on Wednesday evening. Killeavy got off to the best possible start with five unanswered points mainly coming from aerial balls through the full forward line.
In these early exchanges, Raymond Teggart scored two points himself and Barry Magee scored another.
Silverbridge were held scoreless for 20 minutes but then came into the game with a brace of points before a knock down from another high ball was met with a powerful
volley by Barry Magee to raise the green flag. Back came Silverbridge with another two points before another long ball was finished to the Bridge net.
Evidence that things were not going Silverbridge's way came when a goal bound shot was spectacularly saved by Killeavy's keeper
Sean O'Hanlon. Half-time saw Killeavy ahead by eight points 2.06 to 0.04.
Half Time: Killeavy 2-06 Silverbridge 0-04
This is only the second year in existence for this competition and Silverbridge as defending champions were determined not to give up the trophy without a fight.
They stormed out of the blocks in the second half with three points cutting the deficit. Their half back line was playing very well, and Killeavy were starting to slow,
having trained hard with the senior team the night before.Further points were exchanged, including a fine effort from Micheal Connolly but Silverbridge never managed
to significantly close the gap and the final nail in their coffin came with another fisted goal following a superb cross-field pass from Patrick Hannaway.
Killeavy had excellent contributions all round particularly from James Duffy in midfield, Gordon Magennis in defence and Barry Magee up front.
Credit due also to the management team of Gerry Watters, Stephen McDonnell and Eddie Hill for the work they have done with this squad.
The team came back to the Social Club for a meal but voluntarily cut the celebrations short as most of this squad will be looking to the Senior Championship next
Saturday evening.
