Killeavy played with a strong breeze in the opening period, but the game was fairly even. Gerard Byrne got three Killeavy points, but a great St Pats goal gave them the edge at the break. Stephen Malone cracked the St Pats bar and Killeavy had another great goal chance, but the move broke down when a goal looked certain.

The second half really belonged to St Pats, and Killeavy could make no impression on their half back line with Paudie McCreesh and Ciaran McKeever in commanding form. The wind advantage also told and St Pats ran out convincing seven point winners.
