Killeavy were in Mullaghbawn on Wednesday night in a bid to retain their South Armagh B championship crown against a determined Silverbridge outfit. Conditions were glorious,
and a large crowd attended the game. Silverbridge started with a few able veterans in their line up, most noticeable of which was ex-county man Jarleth Burns in the middle of the field.
He showed that his high fielding was still more than effective, and he caught many great kickouts throughout the hour. Up front, the Bridge also had Bernard Connolly at full forward, and
his rock steady free-taking kept the scoreboard ticking over nicely. In contrast Killeavy fielded a fairly youthful outfit, and up front Patrick Hannaway got the
first two scores for Killeavy, the second a spectacular volley, obviously influenced by the world cup action. Liam O'Hare then got in on the action, taking a short fifty from Darren O'Hanlon to power
over a great score. Minor player, Barry Magee, showed great speed throughout the encounter, and he picked up Killeavy's final point of the half. Interestingly, all Killeavy's four points came from play, while
five of Silverbridge's six points were from frees.

The second half was also an even encounter, Paddy Hannaway landing a score from forty yards to leave just one point between the teams. Again the Bridge kept their noses in front by picking off frees.
The pivotal score arrived halfway through the half, determined play from goalkeeper Mickey White, keeping possession and feeding Stuart Stokes. The ball was moved on to Evin Quigley, whose cross was fisted to the
Bridge net by Ciaran Duffy. This should have propelled Killeavy on to a win, but several crucial frees were missed shortly afterwards from the right wing, the lack of a left-footed freetaker proving costly.
The Bridge upped the ante in the final few minutes and a great score from their midfielder at the death forced a replay. All to play for again next week!!
