A five star performance from our Senior Ladies saw them comfortably qualify for the semi-final of the
Armagh Championship with an eighteen point win over Clann Eireann.
Killeavy tore into the game from the start and were soon ahead with points from Aveen Dooley and Ann-Marie Murtagh. There followed a
frustrating period when they shot six wides in a row as well as dropping a few short into the goalkeepers hands and there were worrying
signs when Clann Eireann in their first three attacks registered three points to take the lead. However these fears were soon put aside
when the forwards found their range and six points from Aileen Matthews and an opportunistic goal from Marianne Watters sent them into the
break with a comfortable lead 1-08 to 0-03.
Half time: Killeavy 1-08 Clann Eireann B 0-03
The second half continued in the same manner with early points from Aveen Dooley and Marianne Watters before Ann-Marie Murtagh capitalised
on a mistake in the Lurgan defence to send to the net. A brief revival from Clann Eireann in which they scored 1.02 was never likely to turn
the tide and the Killeavy girls finished the stronger with goals from Ann-Marie Murtagh and Aileen Matthews and points from Aveen Dooley (2),
Aileen Matthews (2).
A very impressive performance all round which really opens up the possibility of a long awaited Armagh title.
In defence, Frances Quinn, Ciara McConville and Sinead Reel were outstanding while Aileen Matthews and Sharon Reel powered the team from midfield.
Up front, the pick of the forwards was Ann Marie Murtagh but the whole team contributed to a great victory.
