Killeavy 4-12 Silverbridge 0-06

Killeavy played a close first half tussle with Silverbridge on Sunday evening in Forkhill in the Junior Championship semi-final. With the weight of expectation that a Junior title is long overdue, it looked like the pressure may have been getting to the team. The first half was a tight affair, with Killeavy leading by solitary point at 6-5 at half time.
Any thoughts of defeat were soon washed away in the second period as Killeavy powered away from their opponents to score 4-6 without reply. Aileen Matthews led the scoring stakes with an impressive 2-6, but there were strong performances all over the pitch to bring Killeavy back to a Junior Final. The whole club can look forward to the final against Keady, which may not be played for several weeks. Well done to the entire squad and management.

Young Ladies make Championship progress

Our u12 and u14 ladies teams were both in championship action last week. The u12s were first off the mark when they took on Derrynoose in the quarter-final last Sunday evening. The team have been unbeaten all year and they kept this record going by breezing through to the semi-final with a powerful all-round performance. Due to injuries and holidays, seven of the u12 team had to line out again, this time for the u14s as they took on Clady in the preliminary round of the championship on Monday evening. Despite the youth of the Killeavy team, they got a grip on the game right from the start with Laura Murphy, Orla Magennis and Sinead Kenna lording possession around midfield and setting up a host of scoring chances gleefully taken by a deadly full-forward line of Rebecca Gamble, Shannon Britton and Bridgetta Quinn.
