SFL Div 1 2012 Wolfe Tones 0-3 Killeavy 1-5 ABANDONED

The Killeavy v Wolfe Tones game in Derrymacash on Friday night was abandoned at half time, when during the kickaround a Wolfe Tones substitute collapsed. There were initially frantic scenes as the worst was feared, but thankfully the player recovered sufficiently to walk to the ambulance after about 15 minutes on the deck. This was a massive scare for all involved, and one the player will hopefully be able to put behind him.
With regards to the football, Wolfe Tones new pitch looks very tidy, as the players walked past it to the top pitch in deplorably wet conditions. The pitch was in good condition, however, as Killeavy were on top for most of the 30 minutes of play. Three scores from Gerard Byrne(2 frees) were soured somewhat by three missed frees from the same player. Indeed Killeavy kicked seven wides, many from scorable positions.
A Raymie Teggart thunderbolt, driven in soccer style from 25 yards to the bottom corner had Trapattoni’s agent reaching for the phone! Conor King scored Killeavy’s final two points , one from free and one from play.
Killeavy led 1-5 to 0-1 , and looked in complete control, but gave away two dreadfully cheap points right on the break, basically inviting the Wolfe Tones team back into the game for the second half.
Ultimately it was a second half that never arrived, but at least all the players should be healthy to walk on the field for the re-fixture, whenever that may be.
