Killeavy 0-9 Dromintee 0-12
A badly depleted Killeavy Senior Team were beaten by neighbours Dromintee in Division 1 League match on Friday night. With seven regular 1st team players missing, this young team plugged away gamely to the last whistle and just didn’t get any breaks in a low scoring match. Dromintee dominated the 1st 1ten minutes and went four points to no score ahead, three of the points coming from close in frees. A Conor King pointed free opened the home teams account and helped settle them into the game. Two further Dromintee points from play opened up a five point lead but Conor King converted a free which was cancelled out by a pointed free for Dromintee. Killeavy had a grip on the last five minutes of the first half but all they had to show for it was a Gerard Byrne point from a free.
Half Time Killeavy0-3 Drominte 0-7
Gerard Byrne gave Killeavy the start they needed for the second half when he finished a good move for a good angled point, but Dromintee replied with a similar score. A further pointed free by Gerard Byrne got Killeavy closer but again Dromintee pointed to maintain their four point lead. Conor King fired over a free but again Dromintee replied and then Killeavy had their best spell in the match. Firstly, Gerard Byrne and then Stephen Malone scored two excellent points to narrow the gap to two and Dromintee had their backs to the wall. A couple of missed chances allowed Dromintee to re-group and they broke away to score two further points, one from a free. The last score of the match fell to Conor King who tapped over a free. A disappointing result fot Killeavy but Dromintees experience and more physical presence carried the day. Killeavy can take heart from the fact that they outscored the visitors in the second half and finished stronger.
Final Score Killeavy 0-9 Dromintee 0-12

Dorsey Emmetts 1.09 – Killeavy 2.11
Killeavy bounced back from Sunday’s defeat with a good away win last night in Dorsey. A quick start saw
points from Jason Cromie, Niall McKevitt, Anthony O’Hare, Cathal McGuiness and Barry O’Hara to give
Killeavy a comfortable 0.05 – 0.01 lead after 20 minutes. Dorsey hit back however with a purple
patch of their own to score 1.03 and take the lead against the run of play. Killeavy finished the half
strongly with a goal by Cathal McGuiness and a point from Niall McKevitt left them ahead at the break by
1.06 – 1.04.
Dorsey came out strongly for the second half and four unanswered points in the first five minutes had
Killeavy seemingly in trouble. The rot was stopped by a Cathal O’Hara point and the initiative was regained
with points through McGuinness, James Duffy and O’Hara and O’Hare. A free from Dorsey brought the
margin down to two and they had a great chance to win the game when a shot struck the crossbar before
being cleared to safety. Dorsey were pressing hard for an equaliser but Killeavy had the last word when
Anthony O’Hare fired home with the last kick of the game to tie up two valuable league points.

U8 Go Games – Silverbridge
June 14th, 2010 | Published in U8 Football
Twenty-Four boys and girls with parents turned up for the first 2010 Go Games Blitz at Under 8 level on a sunny saturday morning in Silverbridge.
After a slight delay to sort out the fixtures for the 14 teams made up of five clubs (Silverbridge, Culloville, Cullyhanna, Crossmaglen and ourselves) the games got under way.
The format was 7 a-side and each of our 3 teams were delighted to have a subsitute to interchange during the 3 games as the sun was very strong. All the boys and girls played their hearts out in front of very proud parents and relatives. With the emphasis on fun and respect they all enjoyed themselves and still had time to showcase all the skills they have been learning on sunday mornings.
Roll on to the next one.

Sarsfields v Killeavy SF League Div 1:
Venue: Sarsfields, Sunday 13th June @ 2pm.
Sarsfields 1-15 Killeavy 3-09
Killeavy travelled to Sarsfields on Sunday afternoon for a very entertaining league encounter. Refreshing for the spectators was the lack of any sweeper system, as both sides set out traditional six forwards v six defenders. Killeavy replied to an early Sarsfields free with a similar score from Stevie McDonnell. Two great points from play from Conor King and Paddy Hannaway buoyed the Killeavy support. When King scored again and Sean Og Duffy added another, Killeavy looked well in control. Sarsfields replied with some good points of their own, however. Darren O’Hanlon scored a great left footed goal to the roof of the net, after Killeavy dispossessed a Sarsfields defender and McDonnell played a great ball to O’Hanlon. A left footed score from Paddy Hannaway was countered by a Sarsfields brace. Killeavy led by a goal at the break.
Half time: Sarsfields 0-6 Killeavy 1-6
Sarsfields started the second half with two scores before a raiding Kealan Downey set up points for Stevie Malone and Stevie McDonnell. A good Killeavy move up the pitch then saw Duffy flick the ball into to McDonnell to crash home a second Killeavy goal.
Again Sarsfields answered with scores. Killeavy were now struggling in midfield from kickouts, losing breaks and were starved of possession. With a monopoly of possession, Sarsfields kicked point after point. Back within a point, McDonnell relieved the pressure with a great run to place Paddy Hannnaway to blast a goal to the top corner. Sarsfields weren’t finished and pressed until the end. Another lost kickout in the final minute saw Sarsfields drive through the Killeavy defence to bang home an equalising goal.
This match was a mixed bag for Killeavy. The squad is getting healthier, and some of their link up play yielded some terrific scores. On the flip side, they did lose a lot of possession in the midfield tussle and through some basic mistakes. Generally the team appears to be showing some better form, and lets hope this more attacking conventional lineup can continue to gain us some points.
